Wendys Alpine Coffee Shop Introduces a Special Promotion for IG Animal Rescue

Vail, CO (PRWEB) January 23, 2012

Join Wendy in the coffee shop for a coffee plus a ham and egg croissant for just $ 7 and Wendys Coffee Shop will contribute $ 1.00 to IG rescue. Stop in and enjoy the photos of Eloise and Yuki, beautiful Italian Greyhounds who are a part of the logo for the coffee shop. Yuki is an albino Greyhound rescued from an abusive home.

The Italian Greyhound (IG) is the smallest of the family of gazehounds (dogs that hunt by sight). The breed is an old one and is believed to have originated more than 2,000 years ago in the countries now known as Greece and Turkey. This belief is based on the depiction of miniature greyhounds in the early decorative arts of these countries and on the archaeological discovery of small greyhound skeletons. By the Middle Ages, the breed had become distributed throughout Southern Europe and was later a favorite of the Italians of the sixteenth century, among whom miniature dogs were in great demand. It is, in fact, due to its popularity in Italy at this time that the breed became known as the “Italian Greyhound.” From this period onward the history of the breed can be fairly well traced as it spread through Europe, arriving in England in the seventeenth century.

An Italian Greyhound was registered for the first time with the American Kennel Club in 1886. Records show that during the same years a few were being entered in shows. After World War I when the breed was in danger of extinction in Great Britain, fresh stock was imported from the United States, giving evidence of the high quality to be found in America by then.

The Italian Greyhound Club of American was founded in 1954. In 1963, an Italian Greyhound was named Best in Show for the first time, and since then, many others have followed suit.

IGCA Rescue is a club sponsored re-homing service provided for Italian Greyhounds that have been abandoned at animal shelters, taken from abusive homes or surrendered to Rescue due to the death or divorce of the former owner. Occasionally, dogs are turned over to Rescue because the owner can no longer keep the dog and the dog was acquired from a source to which it cannot be returned.

IGCA Rescue volunteers foster the Italian Greyhounds in their homes, where the dogs health and temperament are evaluated. All dogs are taken for a veterinary check-up: when necessary, vaccinations are updated, the animal is neutered/spayed and its teeth are cleaned. Each Italian Greyhound is evaluated so that it can be placed in a home suitable to both the dog and the new owner.

Wendys Alpine Coffee Shop is a full service facility, providing European coffee, delicious by itself or in specialty drinks. Wendy serves a large variety of breakfast items all morning from 7:30 AM and Panini sandwiches for your lunch requirements. Wendys hours are from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM, except closed on Tuesdays.

Why Barnsley Gardens Resort Should Be On Everyone’s Most Romantic List

ADAIRSVILLE, GA (PRWEB) January 18, 2012

Built from a romantic storybook history and setting, Barnsley Gardens Resort is the ultimate couples retreat for an unforgettable weekend getaway rendezvous. While they certainly pull out all the stops on Valentines Weekend with gourmet dining at the Rice House ($ 80 per person), moonlit horse-drawn carriage rides, and roses and cocktails in the Ruins, every day is Valentines Day at Barnsley.

How Does Barnsley Celebrate Love, Let Us Count the Many Ways:

Once Upon a Time: The original manor home that serves as the centerpiece of the resort was built for love by an industrialist for his wife, complete with intricate landscaping and gardens. Furthermore, a (German) Prince bought the land for his Princess and turned it into a resort. The gorgeous, inviting ruins of the original home and gardens have been preserved for guests enjoyment.

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes: Barnsley Gardens Resort has a real live Fairy Godmother on-site who caters to dreams and wishes. Fairy, as she is affectionately known, is well known for enhancing guests stays with her signature Love Spells, aiding in creating the most amazing proposals, and generally making ones hearts desire come to fruition. No task is too big or too small. As she says, Give me at least 24 hours notice to arrange anything. For the impossible, give me 3 days.

Casting a Spell: Fairy Godmothers Love Spells go beyond champagne, strawberries and roses. Imagine a room transformed into an amazingly romantic, over-the-top setting. Spells have enticing names like Scarlett Nights, Chocolate Fantasies and Shake Your Coconuts. Heres an example: Love Me Smore – Come back to your cottage after a relaxing dinner and find a big fluffy comforter, tons of pillows, and candles lit in front of a glowing fireplace. Hot chocolate for two, graham crackers, marshmallows, Hershey bars, and real bamboo skewers await your return. A bottle of Baileys is provided for sippin tween roasting and snugglin.

Its Been Said That a Great Meal is the Way to the Heart: Barnsley offers amazing, secluded, and secretive spots to dine. Private dinners can be arranged under the stars in the Ruins; on candlelit, white linen-covered tables in a hidden bamboo garden, or served fireside, complete with personal butler service.

Snuggle Time: Accommodations are set in separate cozy cottages in an English Countryside Village layout, luxuriously decorated with country chic furnishings and feature private fireplaces.

The Couple that Plays Together, Stays Together: The 3,300-acre resort offers couples a variety of exciting activities that include horseback riding, golf, tennis, scenic hiking trails, lawn games, canoeing, and sporting clays. Duos can also relax at the resorts luxurious European spa where they can indulge in a soothing couples massage.

All these unique attributes and amenities truly help Barnsley Gardens Resort stand out when choosing a date night out or romantic getaway. And they have a REAL LIVE FAIRY GODMOTHER on site it doesnt get more magical than that!

Fabulous Weddings Shoestring Budgets Offers Celebrity Weddings on a Recessionista Budget

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 13, 2010

Fabulous Weddings Shoestring Budgets (FWSB) announces their commitment to creating Celebrity Weddings on a Recessionista Budget, because they understand the financial strains of today. The boutique offers budget analysis, venue scouting, d?cor design, custom wedding graphic design, floral design, styling and access to their list of vendors who specialize in creative alternatives for the budget conscious.

One of the biggest mistakes couples make is not hiring a wedding planner, especially when your budget is small, said Renita Tait, owner of FWSB. FWSB understands what elements make a celebrity wedding amazing and we make all of those elements fabulous for every wedding that we create.

Every client of FWSB is treated like a Celebrity. The boutique builds a relationship with their clients enabling them to understand the clients individual tastes, and to create a unique event tailored specifically to them. Clients receive a break down sheet that takes their total budget into consideration, further creating smaller budgets for each category of their wedding.

Scouting venues is an important element to setting the actual wedding date based on the clients specifications to find the perfect location. Once the venue is set, the design team creates an inspiration board that reflects the weddings theme and design direction of the wedding. Stationery also plays a big part of every wedding, so FWSB creates a custom wedding package that includes save the dates, invitations, thank you cards, menu and escort cards that all reflect of the weddings theme. We create all of our graphic design work in house. A lot of planners outsource but we like to get our hands dirty, said owner, Mrs.Tait. We save our clients money because we do a lot of the work ourselves.

Flowers are a major, if not, the most important part of a wedding, especially a celebrity wedding. As creative director, Mrs. Tait has several years of experience as a freelance floral designer, which she brings to every wedding. They trim the floral budget fat by creating all the centerpieces and bouquets, etc. Since they dont have a shop, they bring in flowers on a per event basis, which saves their clients money and allows them to use more expensive flowers commonly found in celebrity weddings.

The companys motto is Fun, Fresh, Fabulous and you can expect that they are keeping up on the latest trends and sometimes starting their own. They offer bridal party styling, from color selection to clothing style and makeup to complete the wedding vision. Brides dont have to blow their budget wedding attire. They can go to events like Running of the Brides, sample sales/trunk shows and Renttherunway.com. The groom is not to be forgotten, so we always make suggestions on tuxedo styles and color, said Renita Tait.

FWSB has the total package and to complete that package is their lists of specialty vendors who cater to brides on a shoestring budget. They have compiled a team of talented, up and coming vendors who are on the cutting edge of their field. The ideology of the company is that you should not have to sacrifice quality for the lack of budget and that is reflected in every element of each clients wedding.

About Fabulous Weddings Shoestring Budgets

Launched in 2008 Fabulous Weddings Shoestring Budgets is based out of New York City. Founder and Creative Director Renita Tait brings more than 5 years of experience and an eye for interior designing, event planning and project management. Fabulous Weddings Shoestring Budgets creates amazing custom weddings on small budget. For more information, visit http://www.fabulousweddingsshoestringbudgets.com or call (917)595-0176.

Academy of Art University Students Win Surtex Competition

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) June 2, 2010

Academy of Art University School of Fashion student Jana Yee won Grand Prize in the annual student competition at the Surtex tradeshow, which includes a $ 1,000 cash prize. Fellow Fashion student Kenzi Klein also received recognition.

Surtex holds an annual market for selling and licensing art and design. Hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of buyers come to display and view the most cutting-edge designs and artwork. The designext competition, for students in art and interior design schools, gives students around the world an opportunity to get their work in front of buyers and industry professionals.

Both Jana and Kenzi won a trip to New York to present their collections to judges at the Surtex show. The whirlwind experience included exhibiting in their own tradeshow booth.

Previously, Jana worked at a consulting firm, but dreamed of working in a creative field. That passion emboldened her to look at art schools, and she ultimately enrolled at the Academy. She learned about the Surtex designext competition through instructor Jennifer Jeon.

Jana has found her textile instructors inspiring, particularly Jeon. “She has really encouraged me and given me the confidence to stick with it. And without her I wouldn’t have even entered the designext competition!” Jana said.

Jana’s grand-prize-winning submission, Vitality Blooms, references the colors of the sunrise and the optimism of Art Nouveau designs. She impressed judges with her professionalism, which they noted was “beyond her years of experience.”

Jana feels the training and encouragement she received from her instructors was vital in achieving her success. “The most important thing I have learned is that you just have to jump,” she said. “If you work hard and believe in yourself you can do it.”

Fashion student Kenzi was inspired to consider fashion schools by her love of fabrics and prints. The colors and shapes of deep sea creatures influenced her winning collection, Chambered Nautilus.

The skills of the young designers landed them both freelance projects. Kenzi returned from a conference to find that the owner of a Belgian company wanted her to create a collection for them. “We sat down and they picked out some swatches, and we talked details and Bam! First freelance job,” she said of the experience.

The young designers believe that their time at Academy of Art University helped them to achieve this success and start them on the path to a successful career in design. “The Academy gives us really good opportunities with different companies and competitions,” Kenzi said.

Academy of Art University Graduate Wins Jack Gaughan Award for Best Emerging Artist

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 15, 2010

A recent Academy of Art University graduate is quickly making a name for himself in the Illustration world. Tyler Jacobson, whose artwork can be seen in Dungeons & Dragons magazine among other places, won the Jack Gaughan Award for Best Emerging Artist.

Given by the New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA), the Jack Gaughan Award is presented each year to a new and outstanding illustrator. The jury for the award consisted of Irene Gallo, Art Director of Tor Books; Todd Lockwood, Illustrator; and Bob Eggleton, Illustrator. I am extremely honored to be placed among such amazing previous winners and well established illustrators, said Tyler.

NESFA conferred the award on Tyler for his incredible body of work, including his Masters thesis for the Illustration graduate school. Ranging from stunning illustrations of Moby Dick to detailed portraits of famous literary characters like Lestat, the pieces exhibit Tylers interest in science fiction and fantasy stories as well as his talent and imagination.

Tylers thesis work was displayed at Academy of Art Universitys Spring Show, an annual event that draws creative professionals from across the country to see new talent from the Academy. I was fortunate to have so many industry people see my work at that Spring Show. Such exposure allowed me the opportunity to be considered for the award, Tyler said of the event.

In addition to gaining exposure at Spring Show, Tyler also found his agent there. Artist representative, Richard Solomon saw Tylers work at a portfolio review organized by the illustration school prior to the show. Solomon was so impressed that within a few months of their meeting, he had officially signed Tyler on with his company.

A passion for storytelling inspired Tyler to pursue a masters degree in illustration. He credits Academy of Art University with enabling him to develop his technique and style. The Academy really allowed me to explore my options and discover the best way for me to express my vision of art, said Tyler.

In particular, Bill Maughan, Director of Graduate Illustration, had a significant influence on Tylers work. Maughans classes combined principles of both illustration and fine art, which is rare among art schools. Bill also provided tremendous real world applications for his illustration concepts, and I think all my fellow classmates, including me, benefited greatly from his knowledge and skill, said Tyler.

Tylers work has appeared in Texas Monthly magazine, an upcoming pilot for NBC and more. He will also be featured this November in Spectrum, an illustration magazine that publishes winning entries into its annual competition.

Reflecting on his experiences as a professional freelance illustrator, Tyler offers this advice to current students, Develop your vision. The strongest illustrators are the ones who have developed and established their style and are confident in it.
